Behavior Treatment – Is This The Answer For Violent ADHD Children and Teens?

Share/Bookmark

Sometimes ADHD kids and teens can be violent and aggressive and the despairing parents just have no idea how to deal with this. It may happen that they are suspended from school after having punched another child or they do the same thing at home with their siblings. While ADHD drugs can help to a certain extent in calming kids down in reducing hyperactivity and restlessness, there still remains the problem of the violent child who is using aggression to get what he wants.

I know some families who have lost friends because of their children’s behavior and because they cannot function socially. This is tragic and it means that some parents are desperate because they just do not know where to begin. They also thought up to now that ADHD medication with psychostimulants could keep the child under control. But no drug will make a child or teenager accountable for his actions. That is where ADHD behavior therapy comes in because that is the only way parents can learn how their handling of discipline questions has failed and why it has failed.

Let us look at it from the point of view of the child who obviously knows that violent behavior gets results.
That means there is a fault in parenting techniques because if violence is tolerated in any form then there will be no end to it. It could also be a result of one or both parents using violence themselves in punishment of children. In this case the child mimes the parents so this has to be kept in mind. The no violence rule needs to be the bottom line and it has to be adhered to by everybody.

Once you start studying the techniques in ADHD behavior treatment, you can see where you went wrong and all the wrong turnings you made which have resulted in this mess. There is a reason for the violence and there must be deep seated frustration and anger building up which makes the kid lash out. Parents can learn how to deal with that effectively and calmly.

Support for behavior therapy in ADHD and in raising teenagers has come from prestigious bodies in both UK and the USA. The influence parents wield and the way they handle their children will determine their children’s behavior now and in the future. There is no need for lengthy expensive counselling from a therapist as the home study program in the link below is the best value out there and can be tried out for a whole month free of charge.
