I don’t want to live in a police state!
By Online Security Authority on Jun 26, 2007 in Katherine Albrecht, Online Security Authority, Privacy, RFID
To all OSA Network, and To CASPIAN members and supporters:
I don’t want to live in a police state where the Department of Homeland Security has the power to set ID requirements for our every move — and I know you don’t either.
Today you can do something about it. Provisions for the REAL ID National ID card have been slipped into the immigration bill — due for a vote today or tomorrow. We need you to contact your elected officials to stop them from going forward.
My colleague Bill Scannell has set up a website to make it easy to FAX your senators on this issue:
http://unrealid.com/action.html
For nearly two years now, the liberty-minded activists of this nation have worked to protect our freedoms and put a stop to REAL ID. Now it’s your turn. Please add your voice to the growing chorus of opposition to REAL ID and the surveillance state it represents. Send a quick and easy FAX today, and ask all your friends to do the same.

Guys (and I use that in the Boston sense of the word):
We have less than 48 hours to stop our nation from having a National ID card scheme.
The US Senate is scheduled to vote either today or tomorrow on two amendments that will remove Real ID provisions from the immigration bill.
Real ID is a very, very real national identification card. Sixteen states have passed legislation rejecting REAL ID: now it’s time for the Senate to do their part. You can fax your Senators and take immediate action by visiting:
http://unrealid.com/action.html
Please point your friends and families and members to the above URL: they can fax their Senators directly from the site. The last time I did this, the Senate received over 20,000 faxes in 26 hours…let’s beat that record!
