How to obtain a Michael Jackson Thriller Costume

The Michael Jackson Thriller video clip by far one of the most famous videos ever made. It revolutionized the way film clips were produced as well as viewed. A 14 minute video clip was unheard of for the time and it set the world records for “Most Successul Music Video”. Thriller was seen as a mini-movie and completely different from the “band standing in front of a camera playing their song” type of film clip. It was the first of many video clips that Michael Jackson would produce that were spectacular in their production.
The video was very dark, under the setting of a full moon, which most people associate with ghosts, goblins, goons, vampires and wolves. The setting was perfectly suited for this video and the choreography was something not previously seen in video clips. The dance moves have been imitated by many, but none more than since Michael Jackson’s recent passing.
The Thriller Costume as worn by Michael in the video is one which can be quite easy to copy if you have the inclination for such a thing. The red vinyl jacket matched with red pants were fairly simple in design, but also a black “V” which went from the bottom of the back and looped over the shoulder to finish at the front of the jacket. Doing the same in cotton can be done to effect which allows everybody to know exactly who you’re dressing as.
Looking at second hand clothes stores is another option and you may be able to stumble across a red jacket or red pants that would work. The black “V” should be easy enough to copy by using something like black electrical tape or crepe paper sticky taped on. Leather is a popular type of fabric that you may be able to find these in.
One of the most expensive ways to get yourself in to one of these costumes is to actually hire one for that halloween or dress up party that you wish to attend. The problems with hiring something like this is a) it’s costly and b) you have to return it at the end of the day so you’ve got nothing to show for it.
The best way to obtain an authentic looking costume is to buy one for yourself. There are many choices to buying costumes, but the best way is finding Thriller Costumes that are officially licensed and authentic. You can also purchase many of the accessories that Michael wore like the glove and the hat, even wigs to match his 80’s curly hair. To add that extra flare to the costume, buy a wolf mask and become Michael Jackson once the full moon is out.
