This toolbar is also known as the Amber Alert Toolbar or BizRate Bar.
It displays advertisements on top of your search results, which is its main purpose.
Stopbadware.org b(among others) marks it as adware.

I've never heard of this toolbar either. Due to the fact that My Space is such a huge community people are actually trying to create software for the users. It's incredible what can new technologies via internet and human mind can accomplish.

I hadn’t heard of this toolbar … kudos to the inventors!

I’ve seen a number of posts on Digg recently where they’ve arrested people for child harrasment on MySpace.
